HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer

After looking into purchasing a printer a few months ago I was put off by the high price tag attached to replacing to ink cartridges (being only 16 with a part time job). When I discovered the HP Instant Ink program I was intrigued to find out more. I then decided the program was for me; and sought to purchase a new printer that was compatible with the program. I picked this one due to it's lower price tag and favourable reviews. When I got it home I was pleasantly surprised! The printer is quick and efficient and setting it up was a dream. It connected to my home network effortlessly and I was printing web pages from my iPhone within minutes. I would definitely say it's the best printer I've owned. A few side notes though; 1) the dimensions given is the printer when all compartments are opened to the point the printer doesn't actually operate. The printer has a standard footprint with a streamlined design. 2) if you wish to opt for the Instant Ink program, you must purchase an enrolment card with the printer separately. The printer does not come with one and you cannot enrol without one. However it does include a tri-colour and black ink cartridge (301).
Much better than I had hoped

I wanted a small, low height, compact printer. I print very low volume, which means the cartridges usually clog before I'm ready to print again. I wanted an Epson or Canon, but was guided towards HP instead because the ink traumas are less of an issue. I thought buying the cheapest of the HP Envy range would be a mistake. But the printer itself is easily good enough for home use. The printer, albeit seemingly lightweight and insubstantial, works well. The set-up, combined with HP's web site, was absolutely first class. I wish the paper didn't stick an inch out of the printer, but if that is an issue - or you print a lot - then a more expensive printer would be best. For low volume, this is great. The HP Instant Ink program also means I can print more, stop the cartridges clogging up, and pay still pay less than buying compatible ink, and this is one of the few printers that (at the moment) supports this. I didn't expect to be impressed by this printer, but it's really quite awesome!
Slow - but cheap

On the whole, this is a good little printer and scanner. It's just incredibly slow at pritning. However, you can print remotely - so make use of the fact you can send stuff to print and then grab it later! Considering the low price tag - you get what you pay for!
